Social Studies (with Security Education) for Junior Secondary Schools is a three- volume series written in line with the new curriculum for social studies developed by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC) for upper basic education.

This new edition combines social studies with security education and exposes students to a variety of ideas and information that deals with living a security -conscious life in a contemporary society marked by diverse peoples and culture. Issues discussed range from fundamentals of social studies education, the environment, the family as the basic unit of society, culture and social values, social and health issues to common crimes and security management. Further, efforts have been made to present these topics in simple language and enhanced with appropriate photographs and illustrations to expose students to social experiences that will enable them have the basic knowledge, the required attitude and the needed traits to make informed decisions and collectively deal with social problems that confront people.

The books are written and designed for teachers and students. Every chapter contains revision questions and activities that engage the students and make learning participatory. A workbook accompanies each volume.
